How the Holiday Meal Program Readiness Cadence Works
One of the enterprise's largest seasonal initiatives on the transportation and supply chain side. First launched in 2022, the program has grown by roughly 42% in program sales year over year, and has been featured in national retail press each year as one of the company's most visible commitments to holiday value and abundance for millions of families -- which is why it runs on a hyper-focused, cross-network readiness cadence.

Readiness Cadence, at a Glance
A simplified view of the readiness cadence. Exact dates, supplier names, and internal system details are intentionally generalized for this public one-pager.
How It Works, Behind the Scenes
In generalized terms, the program starts with the same kind of multi-week planning and milestone governance used on other large seasonal launches. As ship dates approach, the focus narrows: orders are smoothed into both the grocery and regional distribution center network rather than landing unevenly, a holding strategy for dry-grocery inventory is confirmed directly with corporate distribution center operators, and an outbound trailer plan is built together with Data Science Forecasting and private fleet partners. That plan then closes the loop with every individual store -- each one is told exactly how many deliveries to expect and when, so store-level operators can plan their own readiness accordingly.
